Principle centered leadership

Today is Sunday and after watching Olympics men's volleyball finals between US and Brazil (After which I changed my Gmail tag to "Unforced errors make you the second best") I decided to search for some Internet. Luckily here you find many wifi cafes. All you have to do is to buy some snacks of a drink and they let you access Internet through their secured wifi connection. If you want you can spend the whole day there.

So now some reflections from the last few weeks...

A lot being discussed about what brings organizational success and what can contribute to thriving organizations. This is parallel to setting up the platform for National conference of AIESEC Indonesia in November. The reality has been such that being in the top organizational body you try hard to encourage and make your subordinates perform and bring results, but also you find the output is not proportional to the effort that you put in. And also you find that your role increasingly become high directive and less supportive which means you are "Telling" what needs to happen and rest follows - missing key self driven and learning culture in the organization.

This is when we started our topic of discussion about "Principle centered leadership". Influenced by the concepts shown in Stephen Covey's literature, we discussed and discovered the importance of having a never changing core for this organization (Especially for an organization where leadership changes every year, it is an utmost necessity to have a strong unifying direction that can hold everything together).

These set of "Principles" once commonly shared and when combined with deep organizational understanding, will be the foundation for creating the required organizational culture that will drive more self driven learning, leadership and behaviors that we want to cultivate in our organization.

We believe that we are on the right track for leading a better and more effective organizational culture. And we are looking forward to make the fullest commitment to make things happen...

From FX to PIM - MC Bonding

After caught from daily activities, finally The Garuda's had MC Bonding on Saturday, 16th August 2008. Our fist meeting point is in FX, new mall in Sudirman. Some us wanted to try ATMOSTFEAR, Extremely High Slide after saw some people scream and shout in ATMOTSFEAR. We continued our adventure to PIM, we had our dinner and a challenging game there, even though Buddi got fever, he enjoyed our team bonding. That's so fun and connecting each other.

I am ready to KICK ASS :)

When I decided to apply for MCP in Feburary, I felt I was ready and was looking forward to a very challenging and a great learning experience. I never reaslised that I will not only get it but in a larger scale, in just the 1st month of my term.

Being MCP is truly a very different and unique experience, specially for me since I have never before been in a President position. The last month (July) was one of the MOST challenging and difficult month for me. Mainly because of new, unexpected situations coming up, making hard decisions and thinking about so many perspectives to ensure the right choices are made and it is beneficial for all and making sacrifices. This of course took a toll on my emotions, I have never felt such extreme and diverse emotions in a short period. Catching up with these emotions was a challenge by its self. When I look back in this one and a half months, I believe that I am so blessed and fortunate to have such amazing life changing experience is just one and a half months. When I think about how I survived all this, the credit undoubtedly goes to my MC team; who is a constant inspiration for me, my parents; who are always supporting me and SG members; who is always there for me and the team when we need them. At this point, I feel so excited and eager to see what ten and a half months have in store for me.

I am ready to KICK ASS :)

Experiencing China!
I wanna feel and see the world changing.
Tag: Cold, freezing, and anxious.

1st day in Shanghai China was not easy. I went to Shanghai, China with one of colleague and many expectations that I buried in my mind.

When I arrived in Pudong Airport, I saw Shanghai covered by thick snow and we took metro line and suddenly I lost my friend and we got separated. After spent 2 hours to find my colleague, I met her again in the final destination metro line. Fiuh so relieved.

This is my third day I’m staying in Shanghai and I really hope I can get the things that I want.

Looking forward for getting good and challenging experience.
